2 cups fresh blueberries
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup ap flour
1/2 packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of nutmeg
1/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup pecan {optional}
whipped cream {optional}

Combine berries, water and sugar.  Bring to a boil and simmer 2 minutes, stirring constantly.  Pour into an 8 inch square baking dish.

Combine flour, brown sugar, salt, nutmeg and baking powder, mixing well.
Cut in butter until you have large crumbs.
{at this point you can add a half cup of pecan pieces}
Sprinkle over berry mixture.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Serve warm with whipped cream.
